A crossbite is when some upper teeth sit inside the lower teeth when you bite down, instead of slightly outside them. It can affect front teeth, back teeth or both. Patients from Chandlodia sometimes learn about it only when a dentist points it out during a check-up.
Braces can help correct many crossbites by moving the teeth into a better relationship. Orthodontist Dr. Tanisha Kkeswani assesses the bite carefully, because a crossbite involves how the upper and lower teeth meet, not just how straight they look.
Signs can include one or more upper teeth tucked behind the lower ones, or a bite that feels uneven from side to side. Some people also have concerns about how their face looks. Only a proper examination with X-rays and photographs can confirm what is going on and how it should be treated.
Once the bite is corrected, the braces are taken off and a retainer is provided. Wearing it as advised helps prevent the teeth from moving back into the old position. Crossbite cases are often treated over around 12 to 24 months, although complex ones may need longer. Your own estimate follows the examination and records.
If you live near Chandlodia Railway Station, you can book a consultation to have your bite checked. More details are on our teeth braces page.
Daily life with braces during crossbite correction is fairly simple. Brush carefully around every bracket and band, keep away from very hard and sticky foods, and expect some soreness for a few days after fitting and after each adjustment. The fitting itself takes about one to two hours. If anything breaks between visits, contact the clinic for advice.
Braces brands at our clinic, including 3M and Damon, are chosen by the orthodontist to suit the plan for each patient.
Our clinic is at 402, B Square 2, near Double Tree by Hilton, Iskcon–Ambli Road, Ahmedabad 380054. From Chandlodia, head towards Gota and join the SG Highway, then drive south to Iskcon Cross Roads.
