One of the first questions patients from Ghodasar ask about veneers is how much of their natural tooth will be removed. It is a sensible concern. Dental veneers are thin, custom-made shells bonded to the front surface of the teeth, and to make room for them, a very small amount of enamel is usually prepared.
At Kkeswani Dental & Polyclinic, Dr. Prattik Kkeswani keeps preparation as minimal as the case allows. He explains exactly which teeth will be prepared and why before any work begins. Because a prepared tooth is meant to stay covered, this is a decision worth taking time over.
For most veneers, around 0.3 to 0.5 mm of enamel is shaped from the front of each tooth. This makes room for the veneer so the tooth does not look bulky once it is bonded. The exact amount depends on the tooth position, its colour and the change you want.
Enamel does not grow back, so this step is planned with care. The depth is decided tooth by tooth rather than using one fixed amount for the whole smile. A tooth that sits slightly forward may need a little more shaping at the front, while one that sits further back may need less. Very dark teeth can need a little more room so the colour underneath is hidden well. These details are shared with you before treatment starts.
Once the enamel is shaped, impressions go to the lab and temporary veneers are placed to protect the teeth. At the next visit, the permanent veneers are bonded with a light-cured adhesive. Travellers from Ghodasar Cross Roads should avoid biting hard objects in between. If you prefer to keep all your enamel, ask about whitening or aligners, which may suit some concerns instead.
